Tips On Becoming Relevant On Social Media

Here are some very important tips on becoming relevant to social media. These tips may not make you the next Mark Zuckerberg, but they will set you apart from other users. So let's dig into them, one at a time.

  • Explore great themes. Get out of yourself and research new stuff. Stay active in the ideation department and more importantly, get in front of new trends. This will help you both on and offline.
  • Get others to meet you. How you engage with users across platforms will either get them to take an interest in you or treat you as part of the online stats and nothing more. Relate with users who share content that connects with you on some level.
  • Be authentic: This is a big part of becoming who you are meant to showcase. And if it comes right down to it, what you are. Are you selling or sharing? Fun fact, whatever you sell or share should be an extension of you. Be all about the ‘me content’. Originality is a must!
  • Every week, put out something. It doesn’t have to be every day, but it should be frequent enough to get noticed. There should always be something new on your timeline. When people talk about consistency, this is what they mean.
  • Don’t promise what you can’t deliver or say something you don’t actually believe to be true by world standards. Most people on social media make the mistake of spreading themselves thin. Don’t fall for this because you see others crushing it or seemingly so. You can’t afford to be active only on the surface simply because you want to trend.
  • Show empathy for others even as you strive to connect. Doing this is not a weakness. Most people tend to forget their humanity by becoming sentimental. Social media platforms are a great place to be strong and vulnerable at the same time. Give just as much as you receive.

These 6 steps will set you on your way to relevance across your social networks. I have incorporated these into my online activity. You should too.
